Let’s get started!

Let’s get started!

Hurrah, my first Red Digger Purple Dinosaur blog post 🎉

Let me introduce myself

I’m Nicole, Mum to two gorgeous boys and partner to Adam.

At the start of 2023 we found ourselves at the beginning of our journey with Autism. Fast forward to April 2024; we’re at a point where our eldest son has been diagnosed (he is 4) and our youngest son (he is 2) has had an ASQ assessment (Ages and Stages Questionnaire) and is ‘on the pathway’ to a diagnosis appointment. Our eldest son is Autistic and PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance).

Why blog?

I feel like we’ve learnt a lot in the last year and I wanted to try and start sharing some of our journey (past and present), in the hope that any part of it might help another family on their journey, or just help another parent feel less alone.

This blog is supposed to be about my/our experience and our journey, speaking on behalf of myself and our two young sons. Anything I write here is aimed at championing what I believe is right or adding information I think could help other families on their journeys.

Why Red Digger Purple Dinosaur?

I felt that the name for this blog/website should reflect our young family.

We have one fan of the colour red, who has a special interest in diggers, and one fan of the colour purple, who has a special interest in dinosaurs, so Red Digger Purple Dinosaur was born.

Up next…….

I’m excited to have finally cracked through the procrastination and self doubt and started this blog. Please be kind if you read my posts, I’m still learning everyday.

I’ve seen a lot of people ask questions about diagnosis in children as young as ours, so knowing our experience might be valuable to other parents in the same position. It seems like a good place to start, so I think I’ll aim for something on that next ❤️💜
